    The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction provides data in many different places on the state website. This page provides a summary of where to find data on state assessments, enrollment, student discipline, and graduation. It also has links to information on student data privacy, state assessments, and other resources.

°ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵStudent Membership Data

    Student membership counts are the official student enrollment data that school districts report on a monthly basis to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI). Membership counts are available as a snapshot from the last day of the reporting month and as an average across the month, which is typically set at 20 school days. Data are provided by month for the current school year and annually for the past ten school years. 

NC School Report Cards

  • The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction provides annual summaries at the district and school level. The data include school performance grades, academic growth, student characteristics, performance on state assessments, teacher qualifications, and school environment.

Data Request Link

  • The Data Request Form is intended for °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵstaff, external researchers who have already received approval through the °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵresearch application process, and community partner organizations with agreements in place for receiving °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵdata. Please use the Public Records Request process instead if you are requesting existing records for other purposes.

    The public records of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public School System are governed by the state of North Carolina's Public Records Act, General Statute 132. A “public record” means any record created or received by the Board or its employees. An information request is exclusively for the purpose of obtaining answers to questions. A public agency is not required to respond to records requests by creating or compiling a record that does not exist.
