Dear Selwyn Elementary School Families,

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year!  This is my 7th year as principal of Selwyn Elementary, and I am looking forward to an amazing year ahead.  Our school theme for the 2024-2025 school year is, “Reach for the Stars!”  The Selwyn staff and I are committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can reach their full potential.  

Selwyn is an inclusive school with approximately 700 students with a myriad of diverse needs. We have students in our general education program, Extensions, the Visually-Impaired, and the new K-2 Developmental Separate Class program. Selwyn is excited to be selected as one of nine schools in °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵthat will be welcoming the K-2 Developmental Separate Class for the 2024-2025 school year.  

In developing and empowering our students to “reach for the stars,” all staff members use “Capturing Kids’ Hearts” strategies and the Brain, Body, Behavior (B3) philosophy, which incorporates movement in each classroom throughout the day.  We have colorful sensory pathways in the hallways and a Zen Room to provide our students with the social-emotional and academic support they need.  All of these initiatives illustrate how our school embraces the importance of meeting the needs of the whole child and our school community.

Selwyn's outstanding instructional program includes a committed staff, enthusiastic parent involvement, a climate conducive to learning, and the expectation of success for all of our students.
