Principal Legrand is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and UNC Chapel Hill. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and a Master’s Degree in School Administration. Although his career began in business, he quickly discovered that his passion was for education and became a teacher. Principal Legrand has served as an elementary, middle, and high school educator for 24 years. 

He has had the opportunity to impact the quality of education and student outcomes in many capacities. He has served as Assistant Principal at Carmel and Ranson Middle Schools; and Principal at Villa Heights, Irwin Academic Center, and Independence High School in Charlotte.

He has also worked to support Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a recruiter, Executive Director, and as Associate Superintendent for Student Services. Mr. Legrand became the principal of Rocky River High School in Oct. 2023.
