I’d like to take an opportunity to introduce myself as your new Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. I cannot express how excited I am to be joining the University Park Creative Arts Elementary team. I have spent the past few years supporting UPCA and many of the schools on the west side of Charlotte as the former West Learning Community Curriculum Specialist. When I made the decision to begin my administration journey back in the school house, University Park was at the top of my list! I knew I wanted to contribute to the amazing transformation that has taken place at UPCA over the past year.
I am a Western New York native and I’ve lived in Charlotte with my wife since 2011. We have two daughters, 5 year old Eloise and 2 year old Clara, and our 14 year old “fur-baby,” Carlos. I’m a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and I find the golf course to be my place of relaxation. As an educator in Charlotte, I’ve served as an upper elementary teacher, an academic facilitator, and in my most recent role as a Curriculum Specialist. Throughout my 13 years as an educator in CMS, I’ve developed a passion for leading continuous school improvement and growing educators through coaching highly effective, equitable instructional practices. I hold the core belief that all students can learn as high levels and that each student deserves a positive experience in the pursuit of learning.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone at Open House on August 22nd and I can’t wait to get to know all of the UPCA students! As we begin the school year, we will certainly celebrate the amazing growth that was made last year, but we will also quickly shift gears to focus on work of striving for high levels of achievement.
