Experience

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 and began working in Durham Public Schools as a 3, â…˜ multigrade combination class at Club Blvd Humanities Magnet School. In 2002, I returned back to Catawba County and began teaching at Claremont Elementary School, Catawba Intermediate School (6th grade only school), and finally at Catawba Elementary School. After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2008 with a Masters in School Administration, I got the great honor of working as an Assistant Principal at my home high school, Bunker Hill High School. From 2008-2017, I served Catawba County Schools as an Assistant Principal at a traditional high school, Challenger Early College High School, and at River Bend Middle School.

In 2017, I was afforded the opportunity to go back into the classroom and served Snow Creek Elementary School as a 6th grade Math teacher until September 14, 2023. On September 15, 2023, I became the Dean of Students here at Turning Point Academy.

Why I Became an Educator

I became an educator, because I found myself in classrooms all throughout my school years with educators who took the time to focus on the whole child. There were teachers that saw greatness in me and helped to shape and mold me into the person I am today. Education not only changed my life; it changed the trajectory of my entire family tree. Learning became a part of my life and I want to share that passion with everyone that I meet.

Favorite Activities

I love to spend time with my husband and family. I enjoy cooking, a good cup of coffee, and watching True Crime.
