• Carpool Procedures

Video: Officer Justin Lewis, S.A.I.L.'s School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) with C.M.P.D., and Dr. Lynn offer this video to assist with understanding carpool procedures:

Buses and Shuttle Stops: As always, we highly recommend taking advantage of °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵTransportation Buses and Shuttle Stops. A pro tip is to consider the Shuttle Stop at Waddell High School, which is just one mile away on Nations Ford Road. Here is a link to helpful information: SHUTTLE STOPS or GENERAL INFORMATION

Morning (Arrival) Carpool - 7:45 – 8:13 a.m. After 8:13 p.m., students are tardy and must be signed in at the office window.

Afternoon (Dismissal) Carpool: 3:15 – 3:45 p.m. After 3:45 p.m., students must be signed out at the office window.

    1. Plan to arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. This will allow you time to join the carpool line and drop off your child so they can enter the building and be in class by 8:15 a.m.

    2. Only allow your child to exit your vehicle when instructed to do so.
Never allow your child to exit your vehicle while other vehicles are moving (yes, we have seen this happen).

    3. Please stay in your lane.
Switching lanes while in carpool creates an inconvenience for everyone behind you.

    4. Please refrain from using your cellphone while carpool is moving.
This ensures you are alert to those providing directions, keeps everyone safe, and promotes the flow of traffic.

    5.
When exiting, ALWAYS TURN RIGHT onto Nations Ford Road during carpool (from the car lot and bus lot). When exiting, please turn on your Right Turn Signal so that those directing traffic know that you are turning right.

    6. We will open the bus lot to carpool traffic once the required number of buses have arrived.
Please be mindful of directions and give buses the right-of-way. When exiting from the bus lot, only use the right lane (unless you wish to play chicken with an incoming school bus).

    7. If you have a child who uses a safety seat and requires support, please practice how you will quickly unbuckle/buckle seatbelts in advance.
One parent compared this to the pace of a NASCAR pit crew with a quick kiss at the end. Only exit your vehicle if absolutely necessary. Please be considerate of cars behind you and help maintain the flow of traffic.

    8.
If this seems a bit complicated, please remember that °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵShuttle Stops and bus services offer a safe and convenient alternative.

    9. Please share carpool procedure information with other family members or nannies who are assisting you with morning or afternoon carpool.

    10.
It is recommended that trucks and larger SUVs use the inside lane of carpool closest to the building.

    11. Afternoons: For the safety of our students who may still be moving on the playground and/or soccer field, parents do not line up for carpool before 2:30 p.m.

    12. Afternoons: A carpool tag is required to be on display to participate in afternoon carpool. Please remember to clearly display the carpool tag from the current year so that it is easy to read by a staff member.

The Zipper Method – LaNe Merge for S.A.I.L. Carpool

The zipper method is actually a law in Germany. The method is used to allow for the continuous flow of traffic when lanes are dropping.  Allow one vehicle to enter the line of traffic.
