Mrs. Akimme Williams Porter

Hello MILA Bear Families and Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome our scholars and families to the 2024-2025 school year. My name is Akimme Porter and I am honored, excited and humbled to be your new Principal. I’ve worked in education for 23 years as a District Specialist, Assistant Principal and Teacher. I am a mother of 4 daughters and a wife of a fellow educator. I understand the expectations that all parents have for their scholar’s schools to educate their scholars at high levels and create an environment that is conducive to learning.  We will strive to be the best PreK-8 school in °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵeveryday. We thrive to be the best because better is not enough! We know and understand the power that a great education will have on our scholar’s lives and will ensure that we instill in your scholar the love of learning, kindness and academic boldness…knowing that they can and will do hard things and succeed!

Our vision is to provide an optimal learning environment to best prepare students to become productive participants in an increasingly diverse global community. We will work everyday to ensure that our vision is a reality.

This year our goal is to have high expectations of our scholars, staff and parents everyday! Our school Creed is:

High Expectations at MILA means to arrive at school on time, prepared to perform at our highest levels as scholars, teachers and staff members. We have a growth mindset, are kind to others and celebrate when we accomplish our goals. Together we CAN! Together we WILL!

We will live our Creed everyday! This year we will ensure everyone knows and understands our goals and will celebrate when we accomplish them. Parents, please stay in communication with your scholars’ teacher. Ask if you have any questions and we will communicate with you often.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for supporting your scholar and MILA!

Sincerely,

Akimme W. Porter
